The view
from Seldom Seen Farm is quite spectacular. From high up in the hills,
on one side there is Billesdon Coplow and facing south on a clear
day you can see over the county. On our secluded 207 acre mixed farm,
set in glorious countryside, we grow over 20 acres of fruit and vegetables
for pick-you-own or sold ready-picked from the farm-shop. The shop
opens for 2 seasons in the year: for the summer's soft fruit; and
for the whole of December leading up to Christmas. There
are 5 acres planted with several varieties of raspberries to take
you right through the season, ending with Autumn Bliss. We also grow:
We also grow early- and main- crop potatoes, as well as broad beans. From our shop we sell our honey. Jams, chutneys and pickles made by a local friend, include well-fruited blackberry and raspberry vinegars. After picking you can always tuck into the various cakes and biscuits that we bake to serve in the tearoom.
At
Christmas our range of poultry become available, including the famous
Three Bird Roast. Free-ranging on grass and fed on own-grown potatoes
and corn, our geese have a distinctive yellow flesh and a deep meaty
flavour. Hung for 10 days and on sale from November through to Christmas,
they are all oven ready, complete with giblets and a chunk of goose
butter-yellow fat.
