Our story


Seldom Seen Farm describes just what it is! Hidden away high up in the hills, with the landmark Billesdon Coplow knoll to the north and the Leicestershire countryside spreading out to the southern horizon.

On our 207-acre mixed farm we specialise in producing the best of seasonal produce - geese and turkeys for Christmas.

We have been farming here for 40 years - but for Claire the association with good food began when she was head cook at Leith's Good Food in London, an upmarket caterer founded by Pru Leith.

During the summer and autumn we rear geese and turkeys on free range. Our geese are fed on home-grown grain and potatoes as well as grass, helping to give them a distinctive flavour and golden skin. They are hand plucked and hung for 10 days for a more mature traditional taste.

We are known across the country for our three-bird-roast - a goose stuffed with a chicken, stuffed with a pheasant, then layered with home-made pork and orange stuffing. Easy to carve and delicious hot or cold.

We produce traditional Norfolk Black turkeys for Christmas, and also sell pheasant and partridge in our farm shop through December. You will also find there Brussels sprouts on the stalk, mince pies, sausage rolls, cakes and a wide range of tempting festive fayre.
