Our Story

Hidden away

but nothing secret about our produce

Seldom Seen Farm describes just what it is! Hidden away high up in the hills, with the landmark Billesdon Coplow knoll to the north and the Leicestershire countryside spreading out to the southern horizon.

On our 207-acre mixed farm we specialise in producing the best of seasonal produce - geese and turkeys for Christmas.

We have been farming here for 40 years and we’ve always believed that the provenance of the food you bring to the table is so important.  Our free-range geese are fed on potatoes and grain grown here at Seldom Seen Farm as well as lush Leicestershire grass – it means that they have a distinctive flavour and their skin is golden.

Seldom Seen Farm is just over nine miles from the city of Leicester and well worth a visit when the farm shop is open during December. This year it will be open from 20–23 December from 9.30 a.m. – 5 p.m. and from 9.30 a.m. on Christmas Eve, 24 December when it closes at 12.00 noon.  We also have a lovely three bedroomed holiday rental lodge which is managed for us by Rural Retreats..

We produce free range traditional Norfolk bronze turkeys for Christmas, and often sell pheasant and partridge in our farm shop. You will also find an array of Christmas fayre available in the shop from 20-24 December.

We like to talk to our customers to ensure we’re supplying the right type and weight of bird in perfect condition ready for cooking. We look forward to welcoming you to Seldom Seen Farm.
